Isa Sadeeq Abubakar is the Director, Research at the Macauley Institute for Research. He is a Physician and a Professor of Public Health in the Department of Community Medicine, Bayero University Kano and Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he teaches, provides health care services and conducts researches in public health. He was the Head of Department, Post-graduate studies coordinator and Chairman Mentorship Committee at the College of Health Sciences. He has also served as the acting Chief Medical Director and Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital at various times between 2008 and 2014.

Professor Abubakar currently serves as the Chairman, Faculty of Community Health of the West African College of Physicians, Head of translational research in the Nigerian Snake bite Research and Intervention Centre, Chairman Board of Directors, Tropical College of Health Sciences and Technology and National Vice Chairman, Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria. He is a renowned expert of research in health and development and a health systems expert.
